Computer-Generated Dufflepuds?

Lee RavitzThanks to a find by NarniaWeb member icarus, we may have reason to believe that the Dufflepuds will be created entirely by comupters. Lee Ravitz’s resume states (Edit: The following has been removed from Ravitz’s resume):

Role: Dufflepud (Green Screen VFX Test Shots Only)
Type: Film (Feature)
Production: Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Director: Angus Bickerton
Company: Purple Sail Ltd.
Venue: Twickenham Studios

Apparently, Ravitz has been dressed up in a chromakey (green-screen) suit for digital tests. This quite possibly means that the Dufflepuds will be entirely CGI.  Interestingly enough, Ravitz is also the VFX supervisor for Dawn Treader. Also, “Twickenham Studios” is actually a rugby stadium located in London.

Dawn Treader Concept ArtLikely, “Purple Sail Ltd.” is the production name for Dawn Treader, considering how the concept art for the ship has a purple sail.

  1. A nice bit of encouragement here that we will see dufflepuds in the film! Although, I suppose this should be a confirmation of the expected, not a sigh or relief…no slack will be given to the filmmakers for VDT! >:P

  2. NarniaWarrior

Agreed..MinotaurforAslan….this film needs to be made as close to the book as possible…there is toooooo much in it to leave out especially the Lilies on the Sea…what a spectacular scene that would make…Long Live Aslan!!!

  3. Nice find about the purple sail, Poggin!

  4. I don’t understand why everyone keeps saying this report indicates they’ll be totally CGI. It clearly implies they are experimenting with the Tumnus method. Why would they do a green screen test if they were going to be 100% CGI?

  5. Good thinking, glumPuddle. I was kind of confused about the whole CGI thing, and I’m glad you clarified that. I think the Tumnus method is more visually appealing and realistic anyway. They would look WAY too fake if they were totally computer generated. I shouldn’t wonder….. :)
