Examiner recently posted an interview with Prince Caspian- er… Ben Barnes. In it, he reveals a frightening detail.
“Let’s talk about the “Dawn Treader” movie. I know you can’t reveal any spoilers, but what’s in the movie that’s different from the book?
Barnes: They’ve stolen a couple of ideas from some of the later ["Chronicles of Narnia"] books. [It’s] a very difficult book to adapt, because it’s very episodic. It’s chapter by chapter. They go on the voyage, they go to one island, a bit more voyage, another island, a bit more voyage, another island. It’s very satisfying to read; every chapter by chapter, it’s very exciting. But it has no real through line. And so they have to kind of steal other elements to sew it all together. I think they’ve done it in a really clever, unobtrusive way.”
For all those who read the Official Plot Synopsis for Dawn Treader we posted a few months ago, you might’ve noticed that these two statements sound pretty similar. The ‘Unfathomable fate’ was supposedly avoided by the work of those on the Dawn Treader. Stealing work from the other books, could the Dawn Treader really be sailing on to the Emerald Witch (who appears in the Silver Chair) to save the ‘lost souls of Narnia’ as was described in the leaked script?
Well now I’m really interested to see how the adaption works out. I never thought in my wildest dreams that they would pull material from other books.
That sounds logical, but I’m still on edge. Although perhaps introducing the Green Lady (and some kind of cliffhanger) will make it more likely that The Silver Chair will be made?
That’s an interesting observation, Ariah… at any rate, this is straying way too far from the books… changing a few small details is fine, but plot changes aren’t cool.
Oh no. NO! NO! Argh!!! stop!!! NO!! I..I..NO!!!!
I’m not very happy about this…………we’ll have to see exactly how much they add, and then I’ll decide if I’m upset or not haha
I don’t like this!
Can we please just forget about the leaked script? It should never have been seen. Little more than doodles. The Lady of the Green Kirtle is not gonna be in the movie.
