Today, C.S. Lewis reads 111 birthdays: the author who wrote The Chronicles of Narnia, The Space Trilogy, and The Screwtape Letters, among others.
He was born on the 29th of November, 1898, in Belfast, Ireland — where he spent most of his childhood. He received a scholarship to Oxford, then employed to fight in the British Army during World War I.
He had been raised going to the Church of Ireland- but turned atheist at age 15. He came back to Christianity at the age of 33, and joined the Anglican Church, largely in part to the influence of his writing friends, including G. K. Chesterton and George MacDonald.
His first book after becoming a Christian was The Pilgrim’s Regress. His later works included The Space Trilogy, which become a very popular book series; The Chronicles of Narnia, which are being transformed into movie adaptions, and frequently named some of the most spectacular books of all time; and The Screwtape Letters, which has recently been adapted into a radio drama.
He wrote 58 books in his lifetime, becoming one of the most influential Christian writers of all time.
