In The Week, Time magazine critic Lev Grossman named the “six greatest fantasy books of all time.” Here’s what he had to say about The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, one of the six.
A shoo-in. Whether you’re young or old, Christian or whatever, Lewis’ tale of children crossing from one world to another—and discovering their power there—is pure Turkish Delight: The more you read, the more you want.
We agree! Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings also made the cut. Click here for the complete list. And in Techland, here’s what Grossman had to say about making that list.
I waited a while to link to it, because while I knew it was basically impossible to make a list like that, I didn’t realize it would be that impossible. In the end all I could do was make sure that there was a mix of newer and older books, and male and female authors, and that every book on there was not only an absolute indisputable classic, that I personally loved, but one that completely changed the game when it was published.
