Dawn Treader’s Gary Sweet in New Role

216349-gary-sweet-in-the-pacificAccording to HeraldSun.com.au, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader‘s Gary Sweet (“Captain Drinian”) will play “American drill sergeant Haney . . .  in Tom Hanks and Steve Spielberg’s World War II epic, The Pacific.” The miniseries will premiere on HBO next March. In order to prepare for the role, “Sweet pored over hours of speeches made by Clinton during his time as president, including his denial of the affair with Lewinsky.” Why?

Sweet’s character hails from Clinton’s home state of Arkansas.

“It was a lot of fun getting the accent right,” says Sweet, the star of SBS drama series The Circuit.

The Pacific, which follows the 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers, was filmed in parts of rural Victoria, Melbourne and Queensland’s Port Douglas between August 2007 and April last year.

“I’ve never worked on something as majestic as The Pacific,” the veteran actor said. “The actual size of the production, the number of people involved, the time it took, and the intensity of it was truly spectacular . . . I am in these battle scenes which are just unreal.”

Sweet also talked about his role in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

“It has been challenging because it is a film of such large proportion and that is kind of daunting at first,” Sweet said of Narnia.

“But, I can’t complain, it’s been a great few years.”
