What’s Next for Dawn Treader Producer Mark Johnson?

MovieWeb reports that Mark Johnson, Chronicles of Narnia producer, and David Chase together will produce Chase’s “feature film directing debut for Paramount Vantage with a music-driven coming of age story set in suburbia in the 60′s.” Chase, who wrote the script, is best known as the creator and producer of The Sopranos.

Johnson is also set to produce an adaptation of Gay and Laney Salisbury’s The Cruelest Miles: The Heroic Story of Dogs and Men in a Race Against an Epidemic. This book tells the story of the 1925 diphtheria epidemic in Nome, Alaska, which “inspired the annual Iditarod Dog Sled Race . . . and immortalized Balto, the lead dog whose arrival in Nome over a snow-blown trail was an American legend in the making.” Filming will begin this summer for the Walden Media production, which is planned for a 2012 release. Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: The Wolverine, Rhodes, King Solomon’s Mines) will direct. You can read more here.

Finally, IndieWire reports that Johnson served as “Foreign Language Film Award Committee Chair” for the Foreign Language Films at the Oscars this past Sunday.
