I’ve received the oppurtunity to interview a Dufflepud! Not exactly,
of course, but an interview with Ryctor is as close as possible to getting an interview with a real Dufflepud. Ryctor is both a stuntman and one of the actors who played the Dufflepuds in the Dawn Treader movie, acting as the ‘Clumsy’ Dufflepud. He has revealed to what extent his character’s role will be in the Dawn Treader, as well as the CGI involved and the experiences filming the movie. Read the interview below!
Cy: Does your character have any lines in the movie?
Ryctor: I did try throwing in a couple here and there, LOL, but my Dufflepud character’s direction was more the clumsy comical dopey character, allot more facial expression and body language orientated rather than words.
Cy: What kind of stunts did you perform?
Ryctor: Most of my work was character acting, the stunt portion was more trampoline and acrobatics against a green screen.
Cy: How much CGI is involved with your character? (Did you have some sort of costume that made you appear to have only one foot, or was it all green-screened?)
Ryctor: Basically our upper halves were full costume and makeup and our lower halves consisted of a a single color Lycra body stocking. They scanned us and would add the CGI lower portion in post.
Cy: What was it like performing with all the other actors- the dufflepuds, Skandar, Georgie, etc.
Ryctor: I really had a great time, we had a fantastic cast and crew, everyone seemed to work together with great enthusiasm. And to find out now its going to be in 3D is just awesome. I am really looking forward to seeing the final product.
Cy: Have you seen any of the film footage as of now? (And If so, do you like what you’ve seen?)
Ryctor: I was lucky enough to see some of the roughs as we were filming.
I have see some of the footage before and now after in the trailer it’s amazing, its how I imagined it would be. The actual boat the Dawn Treader was one of the main sets and it was impressive at that stage, so once you add all the visuals to compliment the acting, action and set up, I think the fans are really going to be happy with the end product.
Ryctor has recently done stunts for the Matrix and the TV Series, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
A very interesting interview! I am particularly intrigued by the details of how they achieved the VFX elements on the Dufflepuds. Good to see the old BBC Narnia Dufflepud’s best friend – The Trampoline – making a return
Excellent idea and interview, Cy! I’m also optimistic about the final product!
@icarus: yes, the good ol’ trampoline. lol
I also like this interview! It seems that this part of the movie will be pretty similar to the books =]
*to the BOOK, haha I’m sorry
Nice!
Very neat! I love the Duffers so this will be wonderful.
Can’t wait to see what they look like!
The part of the movie that i am looking forward to the most is the duffers and when Lucy is reading the book of spells.
