The end of Aslan’s Country

Actually, that has a hint of truth to it, and here’s why.
You probably noticed that very little has been posted on our website in several months. Because the current state of the Narnia film franchise is unknown, news and updates have been extremely slow – and it’s looking like we won’t see another Narnia film for another couple years or so. (More on that later.)
Over the summer, we (Matthew and Hannah) got together to plan out what we’d like to do with Aslan’s Country in the meantime – with you, our readers, in mind.
Just because there is no movie news doesn’t mean we can’t continue to have an active and thriving website – so we’re making a few (hopefully temporary) changes in place.
We’ll continue to gather news, and update you every once in awhile (like a “Narnia Cast: where are they now” sort of story), but for now, cast updates, awards, and other minor news will not be reported unless it’s a major story.
Instead, we’re hoping to re-evaluate the goals and purpose of our website and turn it back towards the genius responsible for the Narnia books in the first place – C.S. Lewis.
Some of you may remember The Narnia Code Project that we launched back in September 2009. We’re hoping to bring more projects like this one, have some guest posts, and maybe collaborate with our readers on a larger project or two. We’ll be exploring more of C.S. Lewis’ works, his contemporaries, and his life – hopefully including reading groups and more discussion.
This is where you come in
One of our goals at Aslan’s Country is to keep the website ad-free. We want to keep the focus on Narnia and C.S. Lewis – without distracting, irrelevant products in advertisements. (Plus, we think it makes the site look a lot cleaner.)
However, this means that the cost of hosting and running the website goes up significantly.
So – this means we need YOUR help. If you are able, we would love for you to support our website financially, whether it’s $5, or $10, $50, or more. Your donations will go to keep our server running and pay for other maintenance necessary to keep everything going.
Your support is vital in order for us to continue this website. It costs roughly $500 per year to keep Aslan’s Country running smoothly. That may or may not seem like a lot, but with limited funds coming in for the site, it adds up quickly.
As a thank-you for supporting our site (and maybe a little incentive), we’ll be giving away prizes to those who donate to keep Aslan’s Country online.

To fellow Narniains, Christians and readers of Aslan:
Ever since I can remember before I was a Christian I can remember the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Many a times when I saw the first movie I watched it for what it was, then what it really ment, then for the special effects, I kept seeing something different each time.
All the little bits and pieces that Lewis put into these books and what Walden Media has turned into an incredible representation of the movies have opened my eyes a little more to the True meaning of these books and what they mean.
It has been an amazing journey for me and I look forward to see what Aslan’s Country has to bring. If I can help in any way if the Lord allows then I will most happily do what I can, But if not let me know if there is anything that I can do to help you in anyway as far as photographs, images, web design, graphics and more.

What is the five original frame thing? What does that mean? Is it part of the film or is it picture?
They are 5 frames of the original film reel of the movie. Hope that helps! =)

Here’s a photo of the actual film cells.
Basically it looks like THIS. The picture shown has only four frames, and the ones you receive will be in strips of 5. It’s the film reel that they use in theatres when they play the movie. 5 frames includes just one scene or photo of the film.
Does that make sense?

The reason we aren’t giving away any LWW merchandise is because we don’t have any left. We’re not planning on shutting Aslan’s Country down yet — that’s why we’re raising money, so we can keep the site going. So far we’ve been doing fairly well with donations but we’re still short of our final goal. Thanks for your support!
